King Cake for Mardi Gras!

I honestly only heard about king cake a year or two ago during Mardi Gras time, and I didn't even really know what it was. It kind of got put way back in the back of mind until this year, when I was looking for something new to try the weekend before Mardi Gras. My IG page was flooded with different versions of King Cake, so I decided to do some research on it. While there are many different versions of a King Cake, I went with one from Wilton, for two main reasons. One, it had a recipe to make the dough from scratch, which I really only did once before, and second, it sounded like a was just a very large cinnamon roll, and I love those. So I decided to try Wilton's recipe for a King Cake, and I absolutely loved. Making the dough from scratch allowed me to practice working with yeast, and raising times and temperatures. I admit, mine didn't come out exactly like the picture on the Wilton site, but that was because I made more of a ring, versus a cake with it. I also didn't have many bright sprinkles so I just sprinkled a little bit of yellow and purple on top the glaze. This was a pretty simple cake, it tasted amazing, and my family and friends seemed to enjoy it. I will definitely being trying this again next year!
