Beauty & the Beast 1st Birthday

Writer's picture: Anita Persaud Anita Persaud

This year, we threw a Beauty and the Beast 1st birthday for one of my nieces. The party was centered around Belle, so the color theme was yellow, pink, white and gold with red roses.

When guests entered the house, we had the candy station with gift bags to greet them. For the gift bags, we used Gold shiny paper bags that we found at the party store. I printed out different pictures of Belle, and some with Belle and the Beast. I cut them out, and hot glued them on the bags, and we had clear plastic bags with ties for the candy. We stuck with the color theme for the candy as well, there was pink, white, and gold candies. Also hanging on the wall, is another wreath we made, like for the Sophia birthday party. I found the foam wreath, and yellow ribbon at the craft store. I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath, hot gluing it every so often to make sure it stayed. I spray painted little wooden letters of my niece's name, and hot glued those on to the top of the wreath. In the middle, I printed out a picture of Belle, and glued on a fake red rose that I found at the craft store.

To set the enchanted scene, we hung up a gold and pink tinsel curtain for the guests to walk through. Above, we made a signs that said Vivienne's 1st Birthday, all from supplies I found at the craft store. We used a wooden sign, and hot glued white glitter card stock on it. We found the frame at the craft store as well, and sprayed it with a metallic gold spray paint. The letter's were cut out of gold card stock paper. The roses were cut out of card stock on the Cameo machine as well.

Each room in the house was designed around a scene from the movie. We created the family room into the ball room scene. We found the black and gold glittery back drop from the party store, and hung that on the walls around the room. I found the life size cut out of Belle, and the Beast dancing from amazon. And I draped tulle, which I got from the craft store from wall to wall. We blew up pink, white, and yellow balloons and scattered them around the room. Next Scene.

Since Belle loved books, and the Beast gave her, his library in the castle, we created a mini version. We had the library scene from the movie printed on a big poster board from Staples. I made a few stacks of books, and we decorated with red rose petals, and red roses from the craft store.

A beauty and the Beast party wouldn't be complete, without the enchanted rose! To make it, I bought a fake rose, and the glass jar from the craft store. I cut a circle the size of the opening of the jar out of brown construction paper. I cut the stem of the flower until it fit into the jar, and I hot glued it onto the brown paper. I then used some of the red rose petals, and scattered them around the base of the stem, and put the jar upside down on top. I placed it on a stack of books, and strung a string of Christmas lights around it.

In the Kitchen, I hung Plastic tea cups from the party store, and plastic gold utensils around on the cabinet doors. In the dining, we wanted to create the infamous dinner scene from the movie.

In the Dining room, we hung up a vinyl banner I bought on amazon with Belle, and the Beast on it. We made the table with a shimmery white table cloth, that we had from Christmas, plastic gold and white plates, gold plastic champagne flutes, and gold plastic utensils all from the party store. In the center of the table is the Belle cake I made for my niece. Which you can read about in a post under cakes & cupcakes page. To keep with the theme of the party, we made the "Grey Stuff" from the "Be Our Guest" song. I found multiple recipes for that on Pinterest.
