Sophia the First Birthday Party

For my niece's second birthday party, we went with one of her favorite characters at the time, Sophia the First. Again, once the brain storming was done, we let our imaginations run, and here is what we came up with.

When guests entered the party, they were greeted by the purple candy station. For the back drop we used a plastic purple table cloth, and a dark purple piece of fabric we had. In the middle we used a purple spray painted piece of cardboard, with spray painted letter from the craft store. Hanging in the middle of the purple material is Sophia's amulet. I used a picture of the amulet from the show, and cut it out of cardboard, and hand painted the design on. For the candy we went with different shades of purple, and pearly white candies found from the party store. The wooden number 2, was spray painted with purple, when it dried I sprayed spray glue on it and covered it in purple glitter. All of these materials could be found at a craft store. The gift bags were found on Amazon.

For the guest to walk through, we hung up a light purple shimmery curtain with a lavender color cloth we had left over across the top. I then made Sophia's tiara out of poster board. I drew and cut the shape, painted it with silver paint, and used gems from the craft store to decorate.

In another room of the party, we had activities and games set up for the kids. One of my niece's favorite episodes of the show included a slumber party. On the corner of the room, we laid down fluffy white comforters, with any white or purple pillows we had. We put books, and a princess board game around this area. In this room, we included a life-size cut out of Sophia for the kids to take pictures with.

One of the smaller decorations was on the front door, to meet the guests. I made a small Sophia the first wreath from things I found at a craft store. I bought a foam wreath, and thick lavender ribbon. I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath, hot gluing it every few wraps, to hold it in place. I spray painted little letters I found at the craft store and hot glued those on when they were dry. I found the fake flowers at the craft store as well, and glued those onto the bottom. I then printed a picture of Sophia and glued that in the middle of the wreath.

Along with making decorations, I also love baking, and finding cute ways to decorate cakes and cupcakes. For this birthday party, I made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. And piped white and purple swirls on top. I found these cute cupcake topper toothpicks at the party store and topped each cupcake with one.

Each room in the party area was decorated with different shades of purple table cloths, and decorations I found at the party store. Overall, it turned out to be a royally wonderful Sophia the First birthday party. If you have any questions about the decorations or cupcakes, you can leave a comment, and I'll try to answer it for you!
